Pretty bold statement right? Wait, there is more… This statement comes from a man who has been to space more times than any of us ever will.*
But let’s put it in perspective: Chris Hadfield was born in 1959, on a corn farm in Sarnia, ON at a time when Canada had no astronaut program, at a time when such a thing wasn’t even in our country’s foreseeable future.
So Hadfield basically turned himself into an astronaut. He did so by learning mechanics (he graduated university with a bachelor in mechanical engineering), enrolling in air cadets, working his way up through the Royal Canadian Air Force, becoming an experimental test pilot and flying more than 70 types of aircraft between the US and Canada.
In 1995, our hero of the month got the opportunity of a lifetime and seized it. Chris Austin Hadfield made history by becoming the first Canadian to go to space.
Since his first rocket ride, Hadfield has been spreading optimism, excitement and knowledge to/around the world. Remember that astronaut who kept updating us on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Reddit during his space mission?
Well, that’s Chris Hadfield. He is probably the coolest astronaut on the internet. Check-out some of the tricks he’s performed for viewers while 220 miles away from the surface of the Earth.
He made space look cool, and attainable. He is one of those extremely optimistic and inspiring people so many of us look up to. Such an inspiration.
And this takes us back to point zero, about moving our life in the most fitted direction, and turning ourselves into the people we want to be. He demonstrated that through hard, we can make things happen. And that is why he is our Canadian hero of the month.
A great hero to look up to, for 2015, actually.

C’est assez poignant comme déclaration non? Mais attendez… ce n’est pas tout! Cette phrase provient de quelqu’un qui est parti plus de fois dans l’espace que la plus part d’entre nous.
Mettons-cela en perspective: Chris Hadfield est né en 1959 dans un champs de maïs à Sarnia, dans l’Ontario à une époque où le Canada n’avait pas de programme éducatif d’astronomie, à une époque où un tel programme n’était même pas dans l’avenir proche de notre pays.
Donc, Chris Hadfield s’est transformé en astronaute. Il l’a fait en apprenant la mécanique (il a obtenu son Baccalauréat en génie mécanique), en s’inscrivant aux Cadets de l’Aviation royale du Canada, en devenant pilote d’essai et en effectuant des vols avec plus de 70 types d’avions entre le Canada et les États-Unis.
En 1995, notre héro du mois a obtenu une occasion unique, et l’a saisit. Chris Austin Hadfield a marqué l’histoire en devenant le premier Canadien à aller dans l’espace.
Donc depuis son premier tour de fusée, Hadfield répand l’optimisme, l’enthousiasme et le savoir à travers le monde. Rappelez-vous de l’astronaute qui partageait souvent les détails de sa mission spatial sur Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr et Reddit?

Grace à lui, aller dans l’espace paraissait cool et plus accessible. Il est vraiment optimiste et il inspire beaucoup d’entre nous.
Et nous revoilà vers l’importance de diriger notre vie dans la bonne direction, et de nous transformer pour devenir la personne que nous désirons être. Chris Hadfield a démontré qu’en travaillant dur, tout peut arriver. Et c’est pour ca qu’il est notre héro Canadien du mois.
Un héro pour toute l’année 2015, en fait.
