Inuit Sports

Since the weather has been getting warmer across the country, we wanted to share with you some ways you can get outside and play sports; specifically Inuit sports. Whether you will be working with children in a camp through the SWSE program, or visiting each other’s communities across Canada through the YEC program, this is something that you can share with your new friends.

The Inuit have always enjoyed a variety of games and sports. Skills developed by these games were often those necessary for everyday survival in the harsh environment. Thus, the games concern physical strength, agility, and endurance. The following video gives a break down of the main sports played by the Inuit.
